For our Alaska cruise we ended up going with Royal Caribbean and traveling on the "Vision of the Seas". Our reason for choosing Royal Caribbean? Well our good friends had a travel agent that had a good deal and we had always wanted to cruise the inside passage, Tracy Arm, Juneau and Skagway.
The cruise first traveled to Juneau, the capital of Alaska, Skagway and also though a fjord called Tracy Arm. Juneau and Skagway are both cities in Alaska and Tracy Arm is a beautiful fjord in Alaska. Prince Rupert is a port in Canada that we stopped at on the way back. While we were in Prince Rupert we saw some wildlife at the nearby Butze rain forest. The temperatures were perfect (Mid 60's) for hiking.
Our itinerary looked something like this;
Fly to Seattle from San Diego on the Morning of June 22nd.
June 22 Seattle, Washington
june 23 Cruising
June 24 Juneau, Alaska
June 25 Skagway, Alaska
June 26 Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
June 27 Prince Rupert, B.C.
June 28 Inside Passage (Cruising)
June 29 Seattle, Washington
June 29 Seattle, Washington
Fly to San Diego on the afternoon of June 29th.
So, after flying to Seattle the first day, we were provided ground transportation by Royal Caribbean from the airport to the dock where the ship was waiting. It was a long day, my best suggestion for you if your considering a cruise is to have your paperwork in order. If you don't have a passport get one ASAP, soon any travel to Mexico and Canada will require a passport.
Our boarding process went smooth, but it's still a tedious process getting on the ship, the security is very high, so don't forget to wear your good socks because you will certainly be taking off your shoes at the airport.
